AFU Directorate of Farm

Established as only technical university of the country, Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) adopts land grant model for its operation where university farms remain an integral part to enhance the technical capacity of the students and the faculty. Demonstration of the improved technology and large-scale production is possible through a well-equipped farm structure.

Directorate of Farm (DoF) is the authorized wing under the hierarchy of the university administration to look after various farms under the university. Currently the university has 5 different farms to address subject specific technical requirements of the students.

Agronomy Farm

Agronomy Farm

Agronomy Farm is the largest farm of the university owing to its area coverage, available resources and production. It encompasses a total area of 40 hectares.

Major Activity

Agronomy Farm has been involved in the seed production of rice and wheat since long time. With a dedicated seed processing unit and seed testing laboratory, the university aims to connect with the farmers via quality seeds branded in the university logo. This farm engages latest technology available at the national context to deliver the field level experience to the students.

Horticulture Farm

Horticulture Farm

Horticulture Farm is one of the prominent farms under the university with the area of 4 hectares which primarily focuses on vegetables, fruits, ornamental horticulture, protected horticulture technology demonstration and dissemination.

Aquaculture Farm

Aquaculture Farm

Aquaculture Farm under the university is one of the unique farms aimed to impart practical technology to the students regarding aquaculture and fisheries. Extended over the area of 3 hectares, this farm has a total of 40 ponds and other associated resources.

Livestock Farm

Livestock Farm

Livestock Farm is one of the promising farms under the university which aims to provide a technical platform for the students to equip them with skill associated with the livestock. Having a total area of 75 hectares, the farm has housing, milking structures along with large range of grazing land.

Forest Nursery Farm

Forest Nursery Farm at Hetauda is currently at initiation stage and is expected to deliver the services in the days to come. The basic aim of this nursery farm is to make students acquainted with various tree species (timber, non-timber, medicinal, aromatic etc) as a part of their practical exposure. Not only limiting to the tree species, indoor plant and ornamental plant species are expected to be made available in this farm.
