Faculty of Agriculture
It is an honor to take the responsibility of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture (FOA) of Agriculture and Forestry University at Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal and warmly welcome you all in this beautiful faculty premises. The university has been established with the aim of fostering academic excellency through education and research, entrepreneurship promotion, sustainable agricultural development, increasing community engagement activity, and socioeconomic development. In this context, as a Dean of the Faculty, I am wholeheartedly committed to achieve the mission, vision and goal of the University and bring the University’s academic, research and innovations activities to a new height.
The Faculty of Agriculture was established in 2012 by the University's first senate meeting with the aim of producing technically competent human resources in agriculture and related areas for the development of agriculture, agro-industries, and the socio-economic condition of the Nepalese people.
The Faculty of Agriculture offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in diverse disciplines of agricultural science, including the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag.), Master of Science in Agriculture (M.Sc. Ag.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. Currently, the Faculty enrolls approximately 600 undergraduate students across its central campus in Rampur, Chitwan, and its constituent Colleges of Natural Resource Management located in Kaski, Sindhuli, Dhankuta, Mahottari, Banke, Rolpa, Kailali and Dailekh districts. The faculty also runs two academic centers: the Center for Biotechnology and the Centre for Development Studies and Rural Sociology at its central campus in Rampur.
The faculty has provided a strong emphasis on developing skills and confidence in entrepreneurship among undergraduate students for self-employment. For this purpose, the Learning for Entrepreneurial Experience (LEE) program has been integrated into the undergraduate curriculum, providing students with valuable entrepreneurial and research experiences in several cross-cutting agricultural disciplines. The LEE program enhances the skill and confidence of the students that encourages them to become a good entrepreneurs and job providers. Currently, the LEE program is implemented in collaboration with National Agriculture Modernization Program (NAMP) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Environment.
We are committed to achieving academic excellence in teaching and research by strengthening our academic capacity, enhancing physical infrastructure and learning facilities, and fostering a supportive and conducive environment for faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
The faculty also committed in developing institutional capacity to expand research, training, and services for farming communities, agro-industries, government agencies, and other stakeholders in collaboration with the private sector, research institutes, universities, local bodies, and state and federal governments across the country.
